Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. (Mission Technologies) seeks a Senior Software Engineer 3 to support the Navy Training Baseline products and Live, Virtual, Constructive fleet training systems.

You will design, implement, and sustain modeling and simulation software across distributed architectures. Responsibilities include development on Red Hat Linux with Java and JavaScript, collaboration with engineers and SMEs, and ensuring cybersecurity and NCTE standards.

Qualifications

• Requires 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's in related field; 3 years with a Master's; or 9 years with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Strong understanding and broad application of software engineering principles.
• Proficiency in Java development, object-oriented design, and debugging in Linux environments.
• Experience developing multithreaded applications and using Java IDEs (IntelliJ or Eclipse).
• Working knowledge of Git for version control and software configuration management.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in collaborative teams.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications and distributed simulation systems.
• Enhance, integrate, and sustain NTB products (JSAF, JBUS, RAVE, ERM, MDS, NEXUS, JMAC, CS3, ATD).
• Develop on Red Hat Linux using Java, JavaScript, and modern IDEs.
• Collaborate with leads and end users to implement secure software aligned with Fleet training.
• Apply modeling and simulation standards and domain protocols (TENA, HLA, DIS).
• Prepare operating instructions and assist in writing technical documentation.
• Ensure software standards, cybersecurity guidelines, and NCTE architecture requirements are met.
