Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries (Mission Technologies) seeks a Software Engineer 3 to support Navy Training Baseline software across multiple simulation components. You will design, implement, test, and sustain LVC-capable software in a hybrid work environment, collaborating with engineers and SMEs to meet Navy training objectives.

Required are strong Java development skills, OO design, Linux debugging, and experience with multithreading. A Secret clearance is required or able to obtain.

Qualifications

• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• Strong understanding and broad application of software engineering principles, concepts, and best practices.
• Proficiency in Java development, object-oriented design, and debugging within Linux environments.
• Experience developing multithreaded applications and working with Java-focused IDEs such as IntelliJ or Eclipse.
• Working knowledge of Git for version control and software configuration management.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in collaborative team environments.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and sustain modeling and simulation software within Navy Training Baseline product line.
• Collaborate with developers, systems engineers, and subject matter experts to meet Navy training objectives.
• Develop robust, scalable software and integrate simulation systems across distributed architectures.
