Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced avionics integration leader to coordinate cross-disciplinary teams on spacecraft systems. You will drive integration, architecture studies, and verification planning while managing requirements and interfaces to ensure safe, reliable vehicle operation.

The role requires deep aerospace subsystem experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead change across complex programs in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical subject area
  • 12+ years relevant experience in the full life cycle development of avionics systems
  • Deep experience in integrating spacecraft or high criticality aerospace subsystems
  • Demonstrated ability to define and manage communication protocols
  • Demonstrated functional understanding of common electrical digital and analog interfaces
  • Highly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety critical systems
  • Strong ability to analyze complex systems and deliver results-oriented solutions
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the integration of the vehicle avionics with peer subsystems working across disciplines, teams, and multiple stakeholders
  • Act as the negotiator between multiple stakeholders with conflicting interests to optimize the spacecraft design.
  • Contribute to or lead Avionics architecture studies, concept development, verification planning, vehicle integration, and operations support
  • Manage Avionics requirements development, definition, and maturity
  • Develop and manage Avionics physical, logical, and network configuration interface control documents (ICDs)
  • Develop and maintain data and communication budgets
  • Develop and maintain integrated electrical architecture diagrams.
  • Coordinate constraints and conflicting requirements across multiple disciplines
  • Contribute to or lead change management ensuring proper change impact assessment and coordination of design changes and their impacts across subsystems
  • Coordinate sensor selection and end-to-end sensor error analysis
  • Identify, assess, and manage program risks (technical, schedule, cost, integration)
  • Tool development for maintaining vehicle electrical configuration and definition.
