Senior Software Engineer (Merchant Risk Intelligence & Platform)

Join us at Affirm as a Senior Software Engineer (Merchant Risk Intelligence & Platform) and be part of reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly. Our team focuses on building scalable platforms that automate merchant risk assessment throughout their lifecycle, enabling smarter decision-making and a smoother experience for merchants.

What Youll Do

• Own and deliver quarterly goals, leading engineers through ambiguity and supporting their development.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics teams to develop and refine products, considering risks and trade-offs.
• Identify and lead solutions for project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Monitor and support the operational health of your teams artifacts and processes.
• Promote a culture of quality, ownership, and continuous improvement through standards, reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Mentor team members by providing feedback, guidance, and leading by example.

What We Look For

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Experience with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes, and monitoring tools.
• Strong understanding of system architecture, performance, and maintainability.
• Proven ability to define technical plans and write high-quality, maintainable code.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to growth and collaboration.
• Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Remote within the US, with occasional office requirements for some roles.

Salary Range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) : $190,000 - $240,000; Other US

• 169,000 - $219,000.
