Job summary

Chime Engineering is growing rapidly and seeking engineers to join the Membership team. You will own projects end-to-end—from architecture to API design to polished front-end experiences—across the full stack to deepen member engagement.

The base salary for this role starts at $164,000 and goes up to $227,000, with bonus eligibility, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Actual base salary may vary by location and experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years developing software in a production environment at scale.
• Proven experience with Ruby on Rails or comparable frameworks.
• Proficiency with modern front-end technologies (e.g., React, React Native, or TypeScript-based frameworks).
• A product mindset with a strong bias toward experimentation, iteration, and measuring impact.
• A collaborative spirit and strong communication skills, with experience working cross-functionally.
• Experience working with transactional databases, caching systems, and API design.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and scale features across backend services and front-end surfaces that power membership benefits and engagement experiences.
• Build and iterate on APIs and UI components for a seamless member experience in Chime's mobile app.
• Partner with product, design, data science, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand member needs and ship data-driven solutions.
• Apply a metrics-driven mindset to decision-making and prioritize efforts based on impact.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve system reliability, performance, and scalability across the stack.
• Contribute to a culture of technical excellence through mentorship, code reviews, and best practices.
