Job summary

General Motors is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and optimize the Mobile Backend for Frontend and back-office integration services powering GM mobile ownership experiences.

You will craft secure, scalable microservices with Java/Spring Boot, deploy on Azure, and drive modern engineering practices across API development, cloud-native operations, and observability. Collaboration with product, security, and architecture teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of software engineering, with strong Java and Spring Boot experience.
• Proven experience designing microservices and RESTful APIs in distributed systems.
• Cloud experience, preferably Azure, including containerized deployments and managed services.
• Strong DevOps understanding with CI/CD and automated deployment practices.
• Experience with TDD and testing frameworks like JUnit and Mockito.
• Solid SQL experience (Oracle, PostgreSQL).
• Excellent communication and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices and APIs using Java/Spring Boot.
• Build secure, reliable backend services for mobile and enterprise workflows.
• Deploy and operate on Azure with AKS, API Management, Cosmos DB, and SQL DB.
• Strengthen DevOps with CI/CD pipelines and release governance.
• Improve observability with metrics, logs, dashboards, and tools like Datadog and Grafana.
• Apply AI-assisted practices to boost developer productivity and incident response.
• Mentor engineers on microservices, testing, and observability best practices.
• Create architecture docs, runbooks, and API references.
