OpenAI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Internationalization team to build systems that power localization and global product launches. You will work on the platform that manages content, translation workflows, and localization infrastructure across OpenAI products.

You will collaborate with product teams to ensure international readiness, design scalable localization pipelines, and contribute to open-source tooling while prioritizing performance and accuracy for users worldwide.

Qualifications

Strong software engineering experience building backend or full-stack systems.
Familiar with Java, React, MySQL, and cloud infrastructure patterns.
Experience with open-source software and developer tooling.
Interest in combining AI systems with human workflows.
Care about product quality and global user experience.

Responsibilities

Build and scale localization and internationalization platforms used across OpenAI product teams.
Develop AI-powered translation pipelines with human-in-the-loop review workflows.
Design systems for localized content across web and mobile apps.
Create tools for linguists and localization teams to review translations.
Develop developer tooling to simplify localization workflows.
Maintain internationalization libraries for numbers, currencies, dates, and pluralization.
Improve support for multilingual interfaces and RTL languages.
Partner with product teams to improve international readiness of new features.
