Roku, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build large-scale video infrastructure powering Live and VOD streaming workflows.

You will create resilient cloud-native services, ingest, process, and deliver massive content at scale, collaborating with video engineers and other teams to support millions of streaming users. The role emphasizes hands-on development, distributed systems expertise, and building reliable services that impact how audiences access content.

Qualifications

• Experience building distributed backend systems at scale.
• Deep understanding of cloud-native infrastructure patterns.
• Experience debugging networking issues and real-time streaming failures.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, optimize, and maintain large-scale data-stream pipelines for Live and VOD video workflows in cloud environments (AWS/GCP).
• Develop high-throughput, low-latency containerized services for video ingestion, decoding, transcoding, packaging, transport, delivery, and ad markers management.
• Architect systems to consume thousands of video/audio streams in real time.
• Design resilient worker-to-worker streaming and transport mechanisms for network instability and continuous data flow at scale.
• Build scalable orchestration and container-management systems with autoscaling and rolling deployments.
• Develop real-time monitoring, telemetry, logging, and alerting for operational visibility.
