Job summary

Roku is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Advertising Platform to help build a real-time, highly scalable ad platform. You will mentor teams, own features, and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to deliver high-impact software at scale.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of distributed systems experience, strong Java or C++, and a passion for innovation in advertising. This hybrid role supports in-office collaboration in California with remote options on Fridays.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building large-scale, low-latency distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, performance optimization, OOP, and real-time programming.
• Experience with distributed caching, SQL/NoSQL, and cloud services (AWS/GCP).
• BS/MS in CS or Engineering; self-motivated with ownership.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain large-scale, real-time applications.
• Own building features, drive collaboration with product and other teams.
• Demonstrate excellent communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Be an evangelist for best practices across developers, QA, and infrastructure/ops.
• Be an evangelist for platform innovation and reuse.
• Deliver top-quality software in a timely fashion.
