Thomson Reuters is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Legal) for the CoCounsel Forward Deployed Engineering team to design, build, and deploy bespoke AI solutions for legal professionals. You will connect legal teams with engineering, implement scalable software, and guide projects through Agile practices.

The role emphasizes strong Python development, LLM evaluation, and prompt engineering within a hybrid onsite environment, with opportunities to mentor and lead complex initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python and production-grade software.
• Strong prompt engineering and LLM evaluation skills.
• Excellent communication with lawyers and engineers.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum.
• Familiarity with legal platforms or SaaS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Act as the interface between legal professionals and engineering teams.
• Break down customer requirements into actionable work for the team.
• Develop software from SDLC through documentation and testing (TDD).
• Write clean, secure code, manage technical debt, and enable DevOps with IaC.
• Evaluate AI outputs for legal accuracy, relevance, and reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead projects on modern technologies, including legal-domain AI.
