Job summary

Gemini is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Money team, building and operating core ledger and financial infrastructure at scale. You will design and maintain services for high-volume crypto and fiat movement, and collaborate across finance, compliance, and treasury to ensure correct, auditable behavior.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in backend development, strong experience with distributed systems, and proficiency in Scala or Go.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building backend systems in production.
• Strong experience designing and operating distributed, stateful systems where data integrity is critical.
• Proficiency in Scala or Go; willingness to learn others.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, and support ledger and payments services that record crypto and fiat movements.
• Build bank settlement and reconciliation pipelines connecting Gemini to payment rails and banks.
• Apply engineering principles to minimize operational risk and ensure auditable systems.
• Partner with finance, reconciliation, and treasury teams to translate workflows into robust system behavior.
• Design scalable APIs and data models for new transaction types and regulatory requirements.
• Write production-grade, well-tested code that supports critical systems.
• Monitor health of ledger and payment systems and participate in on-call rotations.
• Mentor teammates to ensure correctness and production-readiness.
