Job summary

Gemini is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Money team to design, build, and operate core ledger and payments systems at scale. The role focuses on ensuring data integrity across crypto and fiat movements, with emphasis on reliability, auditing, and performance.

The position offers a hybrid work model in the United States, with opportunities to collaborate with finance, treasury, and external partners. A strong background in backend systems and scalable architectures is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years building backend systems in production
• Strong design/operation of distributed, stateful systems with data integrity
• Proficiency in Scala and/or Go; willingness to learn others
• Experience with unit/integration testing and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Ability to reason about complex system behavior across services/datastores
• Strong communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, and support ledger and payments services across Gemini platform
• Build and evolve bank settlement and reconciliation pipelines
• Identify correctness, consistency, and operational risks and implement safeguards
• Collaborate with finance, reconciliation, and treasury teams on workflows
• Design scalable APIs and data models for new transactions and regulatory needs
• Write production-grade, well-tested code
• Monitor health of ledger and payment systems and participate in incident response
• Mentor teammates to ensure correctness and production readiness
• Participate in on-call rotations as needed
