Job summary

NT Concepts is seeking a Senior/ SME Software Engineer with deep Java or Python expertise to lead architecture, development, and modernization efforts for government-focused programs. You will drive backend design, data pipelines, and secure interfaces across multi-system environments.

The role requires active TS/SCI with CI Poly, experience with microservices, cloud (AWS/Azure), and DevOps practices. Local to DC metro with remote flexibility, and a strong engineering culture.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 7+ years of software engineering (or 10+ years for SME).
• Deep production expertise in Java (11/17+ and Spring) or Python (3.x, FastAPI, Flask) across both environments.
• Experience designing scalable microservices, enterprise APIs, and secure interfaces.
• Strong relational and NoSQL data modeling, and experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch.
• Cloud and containerization: Docker and Kubernetes on AWS/Azure in secure environments.
• CI/CD, automated testing, and secure coding practices; Agile/Scrum delivery.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement backend applications, microservices, and data pipelines in Java or Python.
• Provide SME guidance on software architecture, design patterns, and engineering standards.
• Lead API and system integration design across multi-system environments.
• Design and optimize data storage and transformation pipelines (SQL/NoSQL).
• Drive cloud-native designs and container strategies in secure IC cloud environments.
• Ensure security, zero-trust, high availability, and low-latency performance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate needs into technical roadmaps and solutions.
