Job summary

ICANN is seeking a highly technical Software Engineer in Test (SET) with deep experience in registry-registrar protocols and Internet standards-based systems. The role emphasizes protocol-level validation, backend API testing, and infrastructure-aware test environment engineering for distributed systems.

The candidate will work with EPP, RDAP, DNS, and related protocols, designing automated test frameworks and ensuring system reliability in real-world conditions.

Qualifications

• Experience developing high-quality Java code.
• Proficiency with software architecture and object-oriented design.
• Working knowledge of WebService API Integration (RESTful).
• Solid understanding of file structures and network protocols (XML, HTTP/HTTPS).
• Team-oriented with strong analytical skills.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum tools (JIRA).
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Define, implement and maintain test plans, specifications and suites.
• Develop automation frameworks across technologies.
• Ensure 24/7 availability and stability of system outputs.
• Write backend API tests and integration tests.
• Perform load, stress and performance testing.
• Utilize vulnerability and penetration testing tools.
