Job description

Senior Software Engineer II - Web Experience

At Samsara, we embrace a flexible working model that caters to the diverse needs of our teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Samsara is hiring a Senior Software Engineer II to join our Web Experience (WebEx) team.
  • Web Experience is responsible for reducing workflow distance for customers through great in-dashboard experiences. The team improves the efficiency of day-to-day workflows and helps users discover features and functionality across the Samsara dashboard.
  • The Web Experience team owns the cross-platform full-stack infrastructure and product patterns that are deeply integral to the web dashboard experience. The team owns the core experiences, systems, and product patterns that shape how users navigate, discover, and get value from the Samsara dashboard.
  • WebEx is focused on building useful AI experiences that help users get value from the product more quickly and make it easier to grow adoption over time. The team brings AI into real product workflows, connects that work to onboarding and engagement, and builds the systems needed to support AI usage as it expands across more of the product.
  • This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US.
  • Help shape the technical direction of the Web Experience platform, including the full-stack systems, shared patterns, and AI-powered product experiences that power the Samsara dashboard.
  • Design and build end-to-end features that bring AI into real product workflows, spanning customer-facing experiences, backend services, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Scale the systems and foundations behind the web experience so they can support growth in product usage and AI adoption without sacrificing reliability, quality, or usability.
  • Standardize patterns and raise the technical bar through code reviews, design discussions, mentorship, and close collaboration with product, design, and peer engineering teams.
  • Partner with engineering and product leadership on high-leverage bets, make clear tradeoffs, and help build a team culture grounded in long-term thinking, inclusiveness, and shared success.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years building software with strong programming and design fundamentals.
  • 4+ years working on large-scale distributed systems.
  • 4+ years leading technical projects across multiple teams.
  • Experience building developer platforms, internal tooling, or CI/CD for a large engineering org (hundreds of engineers or more).
  • You've shipped real work with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, custom agents) — not just tried them out.
  • Strong skills in Go, Python, TypeScript, or a similar language.
  • A track record of making engineers measurably faster — quicker builds, easier deploys, less toil, happier developers.
  • Comfort working in ambiguity and getting teams aligned without needing formal authority.
  • The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is also eligible for an initial RSU grant with no vesting cliff, and ongoing refresh opportunities tied to performance, subject to plan terms and conditions. Learn more about our total rewards and benefits below.
  • $154,700
  • $260,000 USD
  • At Samsara, we build for the people who keep the global economy moving. We want owners, not passengers, which is why our rewards are designed to fuel high-impact builders. Our compensation program delivers above-market total compensation through a combination of base salary, performance-based bonus/variable pay, and equity (for eligible roles) in a high-growth public company. We meaningfully differentiate pay for our top performers, who have the opportunity to earn above-market compensation that can outpace the broader market over time.
  • Beyond compensation, we provide the foundations that enable long-term success: a flexible, employee-led remote model, a professional development stipend, comprehensive health and parental leave plans, and more. If you’re ready to build for the long term and own the outcome, your journey starts here.
