Job summary

IBM Software seeks a Senior Software Engineer II to join the Stream Processing & Analytics team. You will help build an elastic, durable, and cost-effective stream processing engine using Apache Flink for Confluent Cloud, with a focus on Java, Python, and Go.

You will design user-facing interfaces and cloud infrastructure, contribute to open source, and ensure high availability across AWS, GCP, and Azure regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
• 4+ years of relevant stream processing experience.
• Experience running production services in the cloud and being part of on-call rotation.
• Proficiency in Java, and comfortable working with Go and Python.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development.

Responsibilities

• Work on Flink user-defined functions to provide a great experience for customers with sophisticated use-cases.
• Design, develop and operationalize critical user-facing interfaces as well as backing cloud infrastructure.
• Collaborate with the Apache Flink community to establish standards and improve open source foundations.
• Independently drive execution of software projects to deliver complex projects in production with a focus on quality.
• Evaluate and enhance the efficiency of our platform’s technology stack and adopt state-of-the-art solutions.
• Develop, manage, and maintain a mission-critical service with a 99.99 SLA across multiple cloud regions.
