Job summary

Rocket is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to drive innovative software solutions, mentor teammates, and lead deployment patterns. You will guide code reviews, develop reusable modules, and contribute to Agile practices while supporting production systems.

The role emphasizes collaboration, documentation for diverse audiences, and ongoing improvement of development processes within a Detroit-based team.

Qualifications

• Expertise solving problems by developing software solutions that require innovation.
• Expertise with programming languages and platforms such as C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Angular or AWS.
• Experience developing software modules or patterns used across multiple teams.
• Expertise designing integration tests, leading software releases, and providing ongoing support.
• Experience helping facilitate Agile software development practices and artifacts (user stories, backlog refinement, sprint planning).
• Experience mentoring and developing others.
• Experience providing thought leadership to influence software development practices.

Responsibilities

You support and guide the team's consistent delivery of iterative value to its clients. Recognized for your expertise, as a Senior Software Engineer II, you mentor your team, helping develop their overall capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
• 7 years of experience in a professional software engineering or similar role
• Expertise developing for a cloud environment or advanced cloud provider certification
• Experience designing or refining continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD)
• Agile certification

On-Call Expectations

This role may include participation in an on-call rotation to support production systems and ensure service reliability. On-call responsibilities may include coverage during nights and weekends. If applicable, frequency and scheduling will be determined by team needs and communicated accordingly.
