Are you looking for a Senior Software Developer role within our Mission Driven organization?

Have you developed production-based products in an Agile environment using Java, Python, or API development skills?

About the role:

This position is performed by an experienced professional and involves undertaking challenging research, design, and software development assignments within a software functional area or product line. You will provide direct input to project plans, schedules, and methodologies in the development of cross-functional software products under the guidance of more senior squad members. This role involves software design across multiple components, mentoring junior team members, and collaborating with users and customers to translate their requests into solutions.

About the team:

This diverse team is actively involved in developing advanced information and decision support tools for healthcare professionals. Notably, we launched ClinicalKey AI, a generative AI-driven clinical decision support tool developed in partnership with OpenEvidence. This tool offers a conversational search interface, enabling physicians to access accurate, evidence-based medical information quickly, thereby enhancing clinical decision-making at the point of care.

Requirements:

• Expertise with backend programming languages including, but not limited to, Python, NodeJS, Java
• Experience with RESTful service/API development
• Working knowledge of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL)
• Experience leveraging cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Expertise with source control systems (Git, GitHub, GitLab, SVN)
• Experience incorporating unit and integration testing into workflows
• Excellent communication skills, including documentation and stakeholder presentations
• Experience with Docker and container hosting platforms (ECS, Kubernetes, etc.) is preferred
• Experience with data pipeline and batch processing

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement complex features or significant system improvements
• Set quality standards within the team and review team members’ code
• Contribute to system architecture decisions within your domain and understand broader system interactions
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, promoting best practices in coding, testing, and architecture
• Identify technical debt proactively and advocate for improvements
• Communicate openly with team members, share credit effectively, and adapt communication styles as needed
• Understand and communicate the purpose of features, asking clarifying questions when needed
• Create and maintain internal documentation on system structure and processes
• Show empathy, be receptive to feedback, and approach situations with humility
