Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a software engineer to collaborate across the division, design and develop moderate to complex business solutions. You will provide technical guidance and leadership for specific applications, ensuring quality and security while following SDLC standards.

In a hybrid work setup, you will contribute to project sizing and system design while coordinating with teams. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates, with some travel required up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience delivering customer-driven solutions.
• Basic knowledge of application architecture and development standards.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly.
• Experience building complex software/systems in one or more languages.
• Experience integrating apps, databases and platforms.
• Ability to estimate project size and work effort.
• Experience writing and modeling design and program specs.
• Solid understanding of the SDLC and migration strategies.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes high level system specifications, requirements or use cases.
• Converts information into low level specifications and design plan.
• Identifies system dependencies.
• Documents design decisions, estimates and performance metrics.
• Defines and participates in testing (unit, integration).
• Leads development walkthroughs.
• Collaborates on data flows and processes to verify requirements.
• Ensures standards for programming, design, performance, quality, and security.
