Job summary

AWS Healthcare AI is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to lead the full technical lifecycle, from system design to implementing robust distributed systems and AI-powered healthcare solutions. You will work on transformative products that leverage generative and agentic AI to enhance clinical and administrative workflows for healthcare providers.

Qualifications

5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
Experience with distributed systems and cloud computing platforms. Familiarity with machine learning concepts and their practical applications.

Responsibilities

Drive the full software development lifecycle, establishing technical strategy and best practices from conception through delivery and maintenance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, applied scientists, other engineers, and cross-functional teams to shape product vision, define technical roadmaps, make critical architectural decisions that align with business objectives, and execute on our product roadmap.
Translate user stories into software designs demonstrating sensible trade-offs between complexity and delivery.
Drive innovation in solving complex healthcare challenges using advanced technologies.
Maintain operational excellence and compliance with healthcare industry standards.
Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies in the rapidly evolving field of healthcare AI
Provide technical mentorship, grow team capabilities, and foster a culture of engineering excellence through code reviews, architecture reviews, and knowledge sharing initiatives.
