Job summary

Hinge Health is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help scale our member-to-member referral platform and to own backend APIs, referral flows, and AI-powered features. The role blends ~70% backend with ~30% frontend, working to drive referral conversion and CAC improvements.

Based in San Francisco with a hybrid schedule, you will collaborate across teams, mentor juniors, and modernize pipelines, deploying in production with trunk-based CI/CD in a healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field
• 3+ years of non-internship full time professional software development experience
• Experience delivering large software projects or features in a production environment
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, etc.)
• Backend-heavy, full-stack ownership — strong ownership of backend APIs and services (~70% of the role), plus frontend surfaces (React / React Native) (~30%)
• Ability to own projects end-to-end with minimal direction
• Experience using AI coding tools and agentic AI workflows in daily development

Responsibilities

• Deliver large projects introducing new product capabilities
• Modernize pipelines to scale products with company growth
• Break down complex problems into manageable tasks and ensure delivery
• Collaborate with team to roadmap and execute technical strategies
• Mentor and support junior engineers with code reviews and pairing
• Integrate and leverage AI technologies to automate processes
• Proactively improve maintainability, availability, and performance
• Communicate technical ideas clearly to technical and non-technical partners
