Job summary

Illumina is seeking an experienced Sr Software Engineer to join the Instrument Software team, delivering mission-critical platform services for sequencing data. You will ensure data integrity and recoverability under real-world failures, and collaborate across teams to drive continuous improvement.

You will develop secure data transfer and storage components, contribute to CI/CD pipelines, and help design robust architectures for hardware-integrated software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience; experience in Medical/Life Sciences is a plus.
• Strong experience with C#/.NET Core and Go; familiarity with REST and microservices.
• Experience with Linux, CI/CD tooling, and software quality practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in an agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and debug platform software components for secure and reliable transfer, storage, and management of sequencing data.
• Contribute to CI/CD build pipelines, test environments, and automation infrastructure.
• Evaluate design of components, identify risks, and drive continuous improvement with tech leaders.
• Collaborate with multiple software teams to address platform gaps and drive change.
• Drive innovation and contribute to roadmaps; stay aware of industry trends.
• Troubleshoot complex customer issues across multiple components of the software system.
