Job summary

The Eames Institute of Infinite Curiosity in Richmond is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute as a senior technical contributor, building industry-grade features and strengthening the developer experience while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the digital platform.

You will own front-to-back development, lead integrations with CMS/CRM/commerce, advocate for performance and accessibility, and mentor the team, reporting to the Digital Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• Advanced full-stack engineering expertise
• Deep experience designing and maintaining scalable web platforms
• Strong architectural judgment and ability to balance design with constraints
• Deep knowledge of accessibility standards and performance optimization
• Ability to operate independently on high-complexity technical challenges
• Clear and collaborative communication style
• Experience in cultural institutions or mission-driven environments is preferred

Responsibilities

• Own the day-to-day health of the platform: CI/CD pipelines, deploy safety, error monitoring, and observability.
• Lead front-to-back development across institute web experiences with strong frontend focus.
• Lead implementation of integrations (CMS, CRM, commerce, analytics, experimentation).
• Provide thoughtful code reviews and elevate engineering quality standards.
• Partner with Digital Engineering Manager on architectural decisions and technical strategy.
