Job summary

Air Force Research Laboratory in Colorado Springs seeks a mid‑senior software engineer (DR-2210-2/3) to lead Agile delivery, mentor engineers, and shape software architecture for full‑stack applications. You will collaborate with product teams, researchers, and leaders to define roadmaps, write stories, and ensure cybersecurity compliance.

The role emphasizes modern DevSecOps practices, robust testing, and high‑quality code reviews across Java, Python, JavaScript, and C#.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related field.
• At least 1 year at GS-12 level equivalent (or 5–10+ years of progressive software engineering).
• U.S. citizenship is mandatory and candidates must be eligible for a security clearance (Secret/Top Secret/TS‑SCI).

Responsibilities

• Agile product delivery: partner with product owners, designers, and researchers to write user stories and roadmaps with measurable criteria.
• Technical mentorship: guide and review junior and mid-level engineers to foster best practices.
• Stakeholder communication: translate technical concepts clearly for agency leaders and cross-functional partners.
• System architecture & design: oversee software architecture, build prototypes, and proofs-of-concept for full-stack apps.
• Full-stack development: write, test, and maintain front-end and back-end code (Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#).
• DevSecOps & pipelines: build and maintain automated CI/CD and DevSecOps with cybersecurity in mind.
• Code reviews & QA: conduct reviews, write tests, enforce automated testing and version control standards.
