Job summary

Awetomaton, a Dayton-based defense startup, builds software that helps humans make informed decisions from raw intel data, with a focus on satellite collection. We seek engineers who can deliver high-quality web applications and robust backend services in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong TypeScript, React, and Node.js skills, experience deploying applications via containers, and proficiency with RESTful APIs, databases, and Git.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Engineering discipline.
• Seven (7) years of minimum experience in a software focused engineering career (Software Engineer, Computer Science, etc.).
• Five (5) years of minimum experience developing web applications with React.
• Five (5) years of minimum experience with back-end development using Node.js, including frameworks like Express.js or similar.
• Experience with database technologies such as SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) or NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB).
• Mastery of software configuration management using Git.
• Experience with Container Technology (Docker / podman / etc.).

Criteria for success

• Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form with peers & decision makers
• Demonstrate initiative when faced with limited guidance or ambiguous requirements
• Expert in modern web application technologies including TypeScript, React, NodeJS, etc.
• Experienced deploying web applications via containerization
• Proficient in building and integrating RESTful APIs and server-side logic

Required Experience and Skills

• Experience with React frameworks such as Next.js or React Router
• Experience with database design, querying, and integration (e.g., ORM tools like Sequelize or Mongoose)
• Experience following GitFlow and GitOps workflows using team repository (GitHub / Gitlab / etc.)
• Demonstrable excellence in UI/UX
• Expertise with Container Technology (Docker / podman / etc.)
