Job summary

Q2 seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join the Digital Banking Fraud team, building scalable fraud detection systems that protect trillions of dollars in yearly transactions. You will craft real-time, cloud-native services and help standardize an existing production ecosystem.

The role emphasizes AI-assisted approaches and practical improvements in design, testing, and operation. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with data science and product groups, and contribute to observability,

Qualifications

• Strong experience building and operating production software systems.
• Deep proficiency in Python and building maintainable services and APIs.
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture and AWS or comparable cloud platform.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and modern CI/CD practices.
• Experience designing distributed, event-driven, or serverless systems.
• Strong understanding of API design, reliability, and observability.
• Ability to work well in large or complex enterprise codebases.
• Willingness to learn across technologies as needed.
• Experience with Git-based development workflows and modern Python tooling.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication across engineering, data science, and product teams.
• Interest in AI-powered and agentic development tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate reliable, low-latency fraud prevention services and APIs.
• Deliver new fraud capabilities and improve existing systems.
• Modernize Python services, shared patterns, tooling, and practices.
• Advance AI-assisted and agentic software engineering approaches.
• Design and operate cloud-native architectures in AWS (serverless and event-driven).
• Integrate with enterprise banking platform and C#/.NET points as needed.
• Improve observability, testing, deployment, and reliability across production.
• Collaborate with data scientists, product teams, and engineers to move fraud detection into production.
• Research new technologies and apply them to improve the platform.
• Mentor engineers and establish strong engineering practices.
