Job summary

PIMCO seeks an experienced software engineer to lead platform development within the middle office transformation initiative. You will build data infrastructure, optimize reporting tools, and collaborate with portfolio managers and operations to deliver production-grade software that scales and performs under heavy workloads.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in Java and Python, deep knowledge of data structures, distributed systems, and cloud platforms (AWS).

Qualifications

BS/MS/PhD in CS, math, or related field.
8+ years of hands-on Java and Python development.
Experience building cloud-ready, distributed data-intensive apps.
Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, OOP, and design patterns.
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and RESTful APIs.
Experience with Kafka and real-time messaging systems.
Experience with distributed caching technologies (Memcached, Ignite).
Proven SQL/database development experience.
Deep financial knowledge of transactions, P&L, or performance.
Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Familiar with AWS and Snowflake is a plus.

Responsibilities

Platform Development and Management: Build and maintain data infrastructure and reporting tools within the middle office ecosystem.
Ensure high performance and scalability through architecture and testing protocols.
Provide Level 3 support for middle office applications.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work with Portfolio Managers & Operations to gather requirements and provide technical solutions.
Translate financial asks into production-quality software.
Code Quality & Best Practices: Uphold industry best practices in coding, design patterns, and application development; mentor junior members and perform code reviews.
