Job summary

PIMCO is seeking a VP-level Senior Software Developer to lead development of analytics tools and APIs for quants and portfolio managers in Newport Beach, CA.

You will provide technical leadership while staying hands-on—design, build, test, and deploy scalable front-end UIs, back-end services, and APIs; translate quant requirements into designs and mentor peers. The role demands strong Python, SQL, and cloud experience and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on software development delivering production systems.
• Strong Python and SQL proficiency with Pandas experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) preferred.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and large-scale data processing.
• Front-end JavaScript experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of analytics tools and APIs for quants and portfolio managers.
• Provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on across UI, backend, and APIs.
• Collaborate with engineering, quant teams, and portfolio managers to define scope and priorities.
• Own delivery, production reliability, and incident response; mentor peers.
