Job summary

Airbnb is seeking an experienced software engineer to co-own the experimentation web app. You will build features end-to-end from React/TypeScript interfaces to Python APIs and data layers, focusing on reliable AI-assisted workflows and trusted tools for users with diverse statistical backgrounds.

You will ship features that speed up experiment setup and readout, collaborating with design and data science partners, and turning ambiguous needs into well-designed, measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a hands-on software engineering role, shipping high-quality code to production.
• Strong front-end skills: React and TypeScript fundamentals, state and data fetching.
• Experience across the stack: backend APIs in Python or a similar language, GraphQL or comparable API design.
• Hands-on experience with AI: you build with LLMs or agent tooling, or you are fluent with AI-assisted development.
• Experience working directly with customers and design to turn ambiguous needs into shipped features.
• [Bonus] Experience with data visualization or data-intensive applications.
• [Bonus] Experience with experimentation platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop new features across the client (React/TypeScript), APIs (Python/GraphQL) and database, and own them from design through on-call.
• Work with design and key customers to shape intuitive experiences, including how to visualize experiment results for users with minimal statistical training.
• Build AI-enabled workflows for our users, such as agent tools and skills that help create, validate and analyze experiments, with evaluations that keep quality high.
• Use AI-assisted development to move faster, and help the team set good practice for it.
• Work with data science partners to bring new methodology into the product.
• Participate in experiment reviews to understand how customers use the platform and where it falls short.
