Job summary

Commerce seeks a Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain single-click apps for the BigCommerce App Marketplace within the Commerce engineering services team.

You will work on backend in Node/TypeScript and PHP, frontend in React/Next.js, and integrate with REST/GraphQL, webhooks, and OAuth. The role emphasizes multi-tenant, scalable solutions and rapid delivery for merchants.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of Node/TypeScript and PHP on the backend and React/Next.js on the frontend.
• Experience integrating REST, GraphQL, webhooks, and OAuth.
• Think in multi-tenant terms: one app, thousands of stores.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS or equivalent; or completion of a software boot camp.
• Bonus: ecommerce platforms or marketplace app experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain single-click apps across the full stack.
• Integrate with BigCommerce APIs, REST/GraphQL, and OAuth flows.
• Write performant, maintainable code with test coverage.
• Develop features with extensibility and quality for many merchants.
• Support apps in production: monitor health and resolve issues.
• Contribute to data migration projects from scripting to cutover.
• Participate in code reviews to improve quality.
• Collaborate with product managers and architects, joining client conversations when needed.
• Move between projects and codebases, choosing appropriate tools.
