Job summary

MACOM in Lowell, MA is seeking a Principal Software Engineer focused on Engineering Automation & Measurement Systems. You will lead the design and development of software platforms that automate measurement systems and accelerate data collection, working with RF, microwave, product, test, and applications engineers to ensure robust, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Software/Computer/Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
5+ years of professional software engineering experience including leadership.
Strong Python and modern JavaScript/TypeScript skills.
Experience designing production software systems.
Ability to translate engineering needs into software roadmaps.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and lifecycle management of automation software platforms.
Define scalable architectures for automation and data-management platforms.
Coordinate with RF, product, test, and applications engineers to align requirements.
Mentor engineers through reviews and knowledge sharing.
Improve software quality, documentation, and test coverage.
Develop instrument-control software for lab equipment.
Create GUIs, dashboards, and data-analysis tools.
Integrate new instrumentation and automation capabilities into existing platforms.
Troubleshoot complex software and data-integrity issues.
Communicate capabilities via documentation and demos.
