Job summary

Viasat is seeking an experienced software/embedded engineer to join the Government - Secure Network Systems (SNS) team in Maryland. You will design, develop and maintain high-speed, scalable network software across product lines while adhering to stringent security and testing standards.

The role focuses on embedded C/C++ in Linux environments, kernel modules, and networking protocols such as TCP/IP, IPSec and TLS.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of C/C++ in embedded environments
• 10+ years of network software design and development
• 7+ years in Linux OS use, ideally embedded
• Experience with Linux network stack and kernel modules
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, IPSec, MACsec, TLS, etc.
• Object-oriented software development background
• Agile Scrum development experience
• Ability to plan, track and report progress

What You’ll Do

The Viasat Government - Secure Network Systems (SNS) team is an interconnected series of small teams that allows for immediate visibility within the group, but maintains the resources support of a large company to solve technology needs. We also support security and cybersecurity needs across the company, in which physical products, tools, and initiatives can have impacts across world-wide usage. You will join a software development team that designs, re-factors, and maintains code for existing and upcoming features across one or more product lines while meeting a stringent set of standards for security design and testing. As updated standards are released they are deployed across a variety of products and must take into account a variety of competing constraints. Members will be expected to work as part of a team that works with and helps clarify requirements while continuously supporting development, integration, automation, and test of the final product through certification.
