Viasat is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer for its Secure Network Systems unit. • U.S. Citizenship and active SECRET or TOP SECRET clearance required.
• Embedded software design in C/C++ or Rust; Linux OS for embedded env.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement embedded software in C/C++ and Rust.
• Develop in Linux-based embedded environments and kernel drivers.
• Work with TCP/IP and network configurations in embedded systems.
• Participate in Agile Scrum, plan progress, and support CI/CD.
• Collaborate with system, test, and hardware engineers on new capabilities.
• Travel up to 10% as needed.

What You'll Do

This is a role for a Embedded Software Engineer within Secure Netowrk Systems (SNS) - Viasat Government who is eager to contribute to a small, fast-paced team. You will develop software to support encrypted communications systems including Layer 2 and Layer 3 In-line Network Encryptors, embedded cryptographic devices, and emerging cryptographic solutions. You will interface and collaborate with system, test, and hardware engineers as new capabilities are developed and transitioned into service.

The day-to-day

• Design and implementation with embedded software in C/C++ and Rust
• Linux OS use, for an embedded environment
• TCP/IP and common network configuration

Additional Details

• This position is site-based. You will work 5 days per week from the Viasat office. Relocation assistance is available pending eligibility.

What You'll Need

• Education: Completion of Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• Experience: This role is intended for someone with 0-3 years of full-time, relevant industry experience
• Citizenship: This position requires U.S. Citizenship and an active SECRET or TOP SECRET security clearance
• Additional:
• Design and implementation experience with embedded software in C/C++ or Rust
• Linux OS use, ideally for an embedded environment
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP and common network configuration
• Agile Scrum development experience
• Ability to plan, track, and report on progress
• CI/CD software
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to travel up to 10%

Salary range

$95,000.00 - $150,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $118,000.00- $177,000.00/ annually
