Job summary

IPSY is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Digital Experience team. This remote-first role focuses on building shared platform components using Next.js, TypeScript, Chakra UI, Kong, and React Native, serving millions of subscribers across IPSY programs.

You will design, implement, and maintain scalable frontend and backend platform services, collaborating with Infra, SRE, InfoSec, and Martech teams to drive performance, observability, and AI-enabled capabilities at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and maintaining shared libraries, internal platform components, or common services.
• Hands-on experience with Kong API Gateway and Lua scripting.
• Experience with AWS, CI/CD (Jenkins), and deployments on Netlify/Vercel.
• Experience with observability/monitoring tools (Datadog) and analytics/experimentation platforms (Statsig/Amplitude).
• Strong problem solving and collaboration across Infra, SRE and security.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/Engineering.
• Experience with Storybook, design systems, and Chakra UI.
• Experience building platform tooling to enable AI-powered product capabilities.
• Experience in subscription/e-commerce domains.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain shared libraries and services to support multiple teams.
• Oversee Kong API Gateway services, with Lua scripting and cloud deployments (AWS, Netlify, Vercel).
• Build and support the React Native mobile ecosystem for IPSY subscribers.
• Improve monitoring/observability with Datadog and drive performance/ reliability improvements.
• Develop analytics/experimentation capabilities using Statsig and Amplitude.
• Contribute to AI enablement across the platform with safe tooling patterns.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, SRE, MarTech and Security teams to deliver scalable platform solutions.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Digital Experience team (EDP). The team builds shared foundations — libraries, gateway services, mobile platform support, observability, experimentation/analytics, and AI enablement — that help Frontend and product teams ship reliably at scale for millions of IPSY subscribers across IPSY subscription programs (Original, Extra, Ultimate). You will design, build, and support modern platform solutions in Next.js / TypeScript / Chakra, Kong API Gateway, and React Native, partnering with Infrastructure, SRE, InfoSec, MarTech, and Frontend teams on IPSY's modern platform stack. This is a platform engineering role for a strong TypeScript/React engineer who also wants breadth across gateway services, mobile, observability, analytics, performance, and AI enablement.

This position reports to an Engineering Manager and can be fully remote (only from one of the 16 U.S. states where IPSY has a business presence - see above for list).

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design, develop, and maintain shared components, libraries, and common services using Next.js / TypeScript / CharkraUI, enabling Frontend teams to build and scale efficiently.
• Oversee and optimize Kong API Gateway services, including LUA scripting, and partner with Infrastructure on cloud deployments across AWS, Netlify, and Jenkins to ensure secure, reliable system performance.
• Build and support the mobile application ecosystem (React Native), ensuring platform reliability across customer-facing surfaces.
• Implement and improve monitoring and observability capabilities using Datadog to maintain system health, operational visibility, and incident response.
• Build and evolve the experimentation and analytics platform, enabling product teams to measure engagement, run experiments, and make data-informed decisions using tools such as Statsig and Amplitude.
• Drive performance metrics improvements across platform services and customer-facing surfaces, identifying bottlenecks and delivering optimizations that improve reliability and user experience at scale.
• Contribute to AI enablement across the platform, building shared tooling and patterns that help engineering teams integrate AI-powered capabilities safely and efficiently.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience designing and maintaining shared libraries, common services, or internal platform components used by multiple engineering teams.
• Hands‑on experience with Kong API Gateway, including LUA scripting.
• Experience with AWS, CI/CD (Jenkins), and deployments on composable platforms such as Netlify or Vercel, in partnership with Infrastructure teams.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog), product analytics or experimentation platforms (e.g., Statsig and Amplitude), and performance measurement at scale.
• A creative, precise problem solver with a strong focus on building modern, scalable platform solutions.
• Strong cross‑functional communication skills and comfort partnering with Infrastructure, SRE, and security stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Storybook, design systems, and component libraries such as Chakra UI.
• Experience building platform tooling or integrations that enable AI-powered product capabilities.
• Experience working in subscription and/or e‑commerce companies.
