Job summary

Reddit is seeking an accomplished backend engineer to design and build scalable systems, APIs, infrastructure, and developer tools that improve how our engineers write, test, review, deploy, and operate software in Chicago.

You will lead cross-team projects, mentor engineers, and partner with platform teams to boost reliability, usability, and productivity while shaping the developer experience across the stack.

Qualifications

• Requires at least five years of professional software development experience.
• Three years working with large-scale distributed systems, with strong production experience in Go.

Design and build scalable backend systems, APIs, infrastructure, and developer tools that improve how Reddit engineers write, test, review, deploy, and operate software. Lead cross-team projects, integrate tools with existing engineering systems, incorporate internal user feedback, and mentor engineers while improving reliability, usability, and productivity.

Requirements:

Requires at least five years of professional software development experience and three years working with large-scale distributed systems, with strong production experience in Go. Candidates should have experience with APIs, developer platforms or tools, infrastructure such as Kubernetes or cloud systems, AI-powered developer workflows, and leading complex cross-team projects; mentoring and strong communication skills are also expected.
