Job summary

MS2 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain the core systems powering our transportation platform. You will work across the stack—from backend services and APIs to databases and front-end experiences—owning features with technical craftsmanship and collaboration with an experienced team.

You will partner with product and engineering to deliver high-quality software, mentor peers, and contribute to reliability, testing, and performance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience building production software with C#/.NET.
• Strong experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases in production environments.
• Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining automated tests (unit/integration) and CI/CD workflows.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery of moderately to highly complex features across the SDLC from discovery through release and support.
• Design and implement well-structured, maintainable, and testable solutions.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications (workflows, APIs, data models).
• Collaborate with product, QA, and engineers to align on approach and execution.
• Be primary owner for one or more services or core capabilities, including reliability.
• Improve system reliability via automated testing, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems, participate in incident response.
• Participate in code/design reviews and raise engineering quality.
• Mentor Software Engineers through pairing and coaching.
