Job summary

Reuters is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Content Tools team, focusing on building APIs that provide precise, governed access to TR’s legal content. You will own features end-to-end, shipping to production with AI-assisted development and contract-driven interfaces.

The role emphasizes reliability, observability, and collaboration with TR Labs, researchers, and product teams. Hybrid work supports 2–3 days in office across U.S. locations and Canada.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong programming experience in backend systems and API design.
• Experience with distributed systems, testing, and reliability practices.

Responsibilities

• Own design, development, and end-to-end ownership of Content Tools APIs and retrieval components.
• Build API-first tools with versioned contracts and ownership metadata.
• Collaborate with TR Labs and researchers to improve retrieval and ranking quality with Vespa.
• Follow verified spec-driven development with CI gates and evaluation datasets.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in on-call incidents and runbooks.
