Job summary

Cogent People Inc. is seeking a Sr Software Developer in Columbia, MD to design, develop, and implement software across languages (Java, Python, Scala) and cloud architectures. You will help build scalable, high-performance systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of multi-language experience, strong CI/CD, AWS, and containerization knowledge (Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift), plus a focus on quality and communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years building software with multiple languages and platforms (Java, Python, Scala).
• 3+ years designing software solutions spanning infrastructure and code.
• Proven experience with AWS architectures.
• Thorough understanding of CI/CD pipelines and toolchains.
• Experience with containerization tools: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to collaborate across teams.
