Job summary

Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Technology & Digital is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design and build a highly scalable, distributed Point of Sale system. You will own end-to-end engineering, drive automation, and lead large multi-component projects while mentoring cross-team resources.

The role reports to the Director of Software Engineering and emphasizes reliability, performance, and fast iteration in a cloud-based real-time architecture for guest and cast member

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, software, electrical or electronics engineering, or comparable field or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of progressively related experience in design, development, and implementation of scalable software systems.
• 4-6 years of team lead experience.
• Experience with cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure) and ITIL/Agile processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end engineering for the Point of Sale system and automate its implementation.
• Own large development projects and teams spanning multiple components.
• Identify new directions and opportunities; champion innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with management and architects to deliver complex software across groups.
• Perform strategic research and design for major technical areas.
• Monitor emerging technologies and propose appropriate adoptions.
• Develop creative solutions to critical design problems with sound judgment.
• Address highly complex issues with vision and proactive solutions.
• Oversee and mentor on-shore and off-shore teams and key clients.
