Job summary

Amazon’s CloudFormation team is hiring a Software Development Engineer to design and deliver scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS. You will own end-to-end ownership from requirements to deployment, mentor teammates, and lead design reviews while building reliable, high-performance software.

The role emphasizes pragmatic solutions, broad architectural thinking, and efficient resource usage in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end responsibilities: requirements gathering, designs, design reviews, implementations, code reviews, feature launches, operations, mentoring, and continuous improvement.
Solve difficult problems using appropriate technologies and best practices.
Collaborate with team to design and build stable, performant software.
Apply a broad range of design approaches and choose appropriately; ensure pragmatic solutions.
Write maintainable code that can be understood by engineers unfamiliar with the system.
Limit short-term workarounds; manage complexity and avoid unnecessary.
Create flexible software with reusable components and sensible dependencies.
Be efficient with resources (hardware, database, memory, CPU).
