Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Chantilly, VA, with 10+ years of software development experience and a strong cloud background. You will lead projects, migrate legacy apps to the cloud, and build CI/CD pipelines while working with Python, NodeJS, Angular, JavaScript, C#, and SQL.

Responsibilities include design, architecture, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration to improve systems and security. Expect AWS/EKS familiarity and on-call support responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Over 10 years of hands-on software development experience.
• Experience with EKS/Kubernetes or other container orchestration software.
• Hands-on experience with secure systems engineering, systems integration, and reverse engineering.
• Proficiency in programming languages (Python, NodeJS, Angular, JavaScript, C#, SQL).
• Experience with cloud technologies and tools like JIRA, Confluence, Splunk, and diagramming apps.
• Strong debugging, performance optimization, and DevOps practices.
• Background in on-call support and operational monitoring of critical systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development projects from requirements analysis through deployment and maintenance.
• Design and develop software solutions, employing technologies such as Python, NodeJS, Angular, JavaScript, C#, SQL Server, Microsoft Windows Server, and Linux.
• Experience with cloud technologies, migrating existing systems to the cloud, and establishing new CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance system operations using tools like Splunk and Grafana/Prometheus.
• Work with Jira and Confluence for agile management.
• Produce technical documentation, including system designs, ICDs, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reverse engineer legacy codebases and produce UML models.
• Support secure communications systems, ensuring compliance with operational and security standards.
• Research, prototype, and recommend improvements to existing systems and architectures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software, performance, and infrastructure issues.
• Research and adopt emerging technologies to enhance system efficiency.
• Communicate with clients on project specific activities and manage project related deliverables.
• Facilitate process working groups to analyze existing processes and create new business strategies.
