Job summary

Arrowstreet Capital seeks a Senior Software Engineer to build and evolve its Shared Data Platform in Boston. You will design cloud-native services, APIs, and platform capabilities enabling rapid onboarding of datasets and streamlined investment workflows.

You will collaborate across engineering and business teams, define a technical roadmap, and drive best practices in testing, CI, monitoring, and security to ensure scalable, reliable data-intensive applications for the firm.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing and building software applications, developer platforms, or distributed systems in production.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including OO design, system design, testing, and code quality.
• Fluency in modern programming languages such as Python, C#, Java, Go, or similar.
• Experience building and deploying applications in AWS or another major cloud environment.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
• Experience designing APIs and client libraries using OpenAPI, FastAPI, or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with event-driven or streaming architectures using Kafka, Kinesis, or similar messaging systems.
• Proven ability to learn new technologies and translate business needs into scalable software.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable cloud-native services and platform capabilities.
• Define and execute the technical roadmap for a shared platform supporting batch and real-time workloads.
• Contribute to features for data discovery, lineage, governance, ingestion operation, and cost management.
• Aim for high quality with automated testing and robust operational tooling.
• Evaluate new technologies to improve scalability, reliability, and productivity.
• Drive engineering excellence through CI, monitoring, and resilient cloud architectures.
• Troubleshoot production systems to minimize business disruption.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Partner with security teams to ensure secure platform capabilities.
• Mentor engineers and promote technical excellence.
