Job summary

CrowdStrike, a global cybersecurity leader, seeks a senior data engineer to own and scale a hyper-scale data lake, graphdb, and time-series DB. You will build systems to centralize data from the Falcon platform for analytics, ML, and threat hunting, primarily using Java microservices, Spark/Scala processing, and Kubernetes on AWS.

This role is based in multiple locations including Sunnyvale, CA, with typically 2–3 days in-office per week, joining a mission-driven team delivering AI-native

Qualifications

• BS in CS, IT, or related field or 4+ years experience.
• 10+ years combined backend/cloud and data platform work.
• 5+ years with Spark or Flink or Ray or at-scale time-series/OLAP DBs (Pinot/Druid/Iceberg).
• 5+ years Java/Scala/Kotlin experience.
• Strong JVM performance tuning knowledge.
• End-to-end feature/product design experience.
• Experience with large-scale data/event pipelines.
• Relational and NoSQL database experience (Postgres/MySQL/Cassandra/DynamoDB).
• Good test-driven development discipline.
• Proficiency with Linux administration tools.
• Experience working with remote teams.
• Experience applying AI technologies to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Write fault-tolerant Java code within Spark, Flink and OLAP/TS/Open Table DBs for platform products.
• Design and maintain ultra-high-scale data platforms processing petabytes.
• Participate in technical reviews and develop new features and stability.
• Improve efficiency and reduce latency of high-performance services.
• Research new ways to query data for internal stakeholders and customers.
