Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join an innovative engineering team delivering cloud-native applications and APIs for dental claims, attachment processing, and Image Intelligence. The role supports telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S.

and focuses on Java, Spring Boot, Azure, and AI-enabled automation. You will participate in the full software development lifecycle, drive technical excellence, and mentor junior engineers while aligning with enterprise DevOps

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing with Java.
• 3+ years of experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• 2+ years of experience with any cloud-native architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support scalable cloud-native applications and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and Microsoft Azure technologies.
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, and Operations teams to deliver high-quality solutions supporting dental claims, attachment processing, and Image Intelligence capabilities.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including solution design, coding, testing, deployment, production support, and continuous improvement.
• Drive technical excellence through code reviews, automation, DevOps best practices, performance optimization, and mentoring junior engineers.
• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with an emphasis on the responsible use of AI.
• Use enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvement.
• Evaluate emerging trends to inform solution design and strategic innovation.
