Job summary

Shippo is hiring aSenior Software Engineer for its WebApp team. The role focuses on building a scalable, high-availability web application stack with modern frontend and backend capabilities.

You will collaborate with product managers and designers to deliver features that improve the shipping experience for merchants worldwide. You will own system design, drive technical leadership, and ensure performance and reliability under high load.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Experience building highly available, scalable web apps.
• Proficiency with full-stack web development using React, Python, Go, Kafka, SQL/NoSQL.
• Strong understanding of OO design and design patterns.
• Experience with AI-assisted development workflows.
• Excellent stakeholder communication across orgs.

Responsibilities

• System Design & Development: build and maintain full-stack web app features and microservices.
• Technical Leadership: own complex features from design to production.
• Engineering Excellence: enhance core stack for performance and reliability.
• Operational Health: participate in on-call rotations and on-call incident response.
• Collaboration & Mentorship: work with Product, Infrastructure, Designers, API Partners.
• Infrastructure: improve CI/CD pipelines, Docker/Kubernetes, and observability.
