Senior Software Engineer, Backend - Fintech

About The Job

Hopper’s Hotel Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) team is responsible for integrating our proprietary fintech offerings with some of the largest travel companies in the world as well as our own direct-to-customer offerings. The role involves working on both B2C and B2B2C verticals, constructing systems, building fintech offerings to scale globally, and translating these into customer and business value.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, deploy, and operate complex backend systems powering our integrations.
• Iterate on features using agile methodologies, primarily with Scala, and technologies like GCP, OpenAPI, BigQuery, Pub/Sub.
• Decide on architecture and build core systems within a microservices architecture.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Frontend Engineers.

Qualifications

• Experience with distributed systems and architectural decision-making.
• Ability to work independently, proactively, and adapt to evolving goals.
• Prior cloud experience and familiarity with Scala libraries.
• Experience in travel or eCommerce sectors is a plus.
• Interest or experience in contributing to frontend development, especially React, is a plus.
