Job summary

Joby is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Elevate Edge Applications Team (EEAT) to contribute to charging software spanning testing to field deployment. You will work full stack across backend and frontend, integrate with APIs, and support maintenance workflows for near-aircraft systems.

The role emphasizes collaboration, rapid iteration, and applying AI to accelerate development and testing, with opportunities to grow into broader system responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a comparable field.
• 5+ years of full stack software engineering experience — backend and frontend, moving software from prototype to production.
• Deep understanding of APIs, web services, and system integration.
• Familiarity with streaming data patterns such as WebSockets, Kafka, or similar.
• Proficiency in C#, Python and Angular; comfortable picking up Java and React as needed, leveraging AI to accelerate translation.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git-based workflows, and containerized deployments to Kubernetes.
• Experience leveraging AI tools/workflows to automate and accelerate development and testing.
• Familiarity with working near hardware (not hardware firmware development).
• Strong problem-solving, proactive mindset, and ability to work across teams.
• Senior to Staff level capability for independent delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and validate charging software used in testing and operations.
• Adapt software as charging equipment and firmware evolve.
• Work across full stack — backend and frontend — spanning equipment interfaces and user-facing tooling.
• Contribute to maintenance workflows and expand scope to near-aircraft systems.
• Leverage AI to accelerate development and testing workflows.
