Job summary
Amazon in Boston, MA seeks a Senior Software Development Engineer to lead the technical direction of deployment and patching systems for EBS server software across 400,000 bare-metal servers. You will shape safe, autonomous deployments and design canary analysis, automated rollback, and stateful storage orchestration with zero customer impact.
You will partner with EC2 and EBS teams to drive secure, scalable deployments, mentor engineers, and influence architectural decisions across AWS regions
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming experience in at least one language
- 5+ years in design or architecture of complex systems
- Experience as a tech lead or mentoring engineers
Responsibilities
- Architect and own deployment pipelines across AWS regions with zero customer impact
- Design automated security patching workflows maintaining manifest consistency
- Build safe deployment orchestration for stateful storage ensuring no data loss
- Create automated canary analysis and rollback mechanisms
- Develop secure, zero-access deployment observability infrastructure
- Advance autonomous deployments using AI-powered anomaly detection and self-healing automation
- Extend deployment capabilities to new partitions and edge environments
- Lead design reviews and establish best practices for deployment safety across the team
