Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Seattle, WA is seeking a Software Development Engineer III to design, build, and deliver complex software systems at scale. You will drive architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performance solutions.

You will guide the full software lifecycle from design to deployment, influence technical direction, and promote engineering excellence within your team and across the organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship).
• 5+ years of programming in at least one language.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of software systems spanning multiple features from requirements through deployment.
• Own architectural direction by evaluating trade-offs across scalability, maintainability, performance, and security.
• Collaborate with engineers across teams to ensure cohesive integration and cross-team delivery.
• Mentor engineers, conduct design and code reviews, and raise engineering quality.
• Improve operational excellence with alarms, telemetry, runbooks, and retrospectives.
