Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Software Development Engineer III for the AWS Cloudscape team in California. You will own architectural direction, mentor engineers, and drive technical strategy across multiple teams to deliver scalable, secure software systems for the AWS Management Console builders community.

The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and hands-on engineering excellence, with a focus on building reliable and high-performance software at scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of multi-feature software systems across the full development lifecycle, from defining technical strategy through deployment and operational excellence.
• Own your team's architectural direction by evaluating tradeoffs in scalability, maintainability, performance, and security, and guide future technology choices.
• Collaborate with engineers across related teams to ensure cohesive system integration and align through design artifacts.
• Mentor and coach multiple engineers on your team and beyond, raising engineering standards.
• Apply generative AI tools to improve development workflows and champion responsible, well-tested approaches to new technology adoption.
• Influence product roadmap.
